purpose Mr Price Logistics is looking for a Yard Supervisor. The role is based at Mr Price Distribution Center in Hammarsdale.key responsibilities
To coordinate, supervise and monitor daily tasks, priorities and work plans and ensure team outputs are of an acceptable standard.
Maintains an organised and logical yard operation.
Plan daily/weekly manpower needs based on upon business demands and closely monitors overtime hours.
Oversees facility equipment and ensures equipment is operationally safe and regularly serviced.
Ensure yard staff are continually trained in container management and organizing yard operation to function in an organized, productive manner.
Manage the logistics of all material (location, flow of goods) to ensure proper storage avoiding congestion.
Ensure container records are correctly captured on high jump system (stock management system)
Ensure associates are provided with correct PPE and that they consistently use approved safety equipment.
Conducts safety meetings and consistently executes all safety policies.
Conducts monthly safety yard inspections, documents findings/observations and distributes to the appropriate management personnel.
Manage yard and warehouse ensuring compliance with company policy cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
To effectively train, motivate and monitor staff activities.
To monitor performance (in relevant areas) according to agreed standards and takes necessary action to communicate, advise and assist staff according to set expected performance levels.
requirements
Diploma Logistics or relevant qualification
2 – 3 years experience in warehousing preferably in receiving environment
Inbound and receiving knowledge and understanding DC operations and retail in general
