Independent Police Investigative Directorate Jobs

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is currently seeking qualified individuals to fill various positions within the organisation. As an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, IPID aims to promote diversity and representativeness in terms of race, gender, and disability. This article provides an overview of the application process, requirements, and expectations for interested candidates.

IPID Application Details
The closing date for applications is set for June 9, 2023. Applicants are advised to carefully follow the guidelines provided to ensure that their submissions are considered. When applying, candidates are not required to submit copies of their qualifications and relevant documents upfront. However, it is essential to submit a completed Z83 application form and a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV). The Z83 form can be obtained from any Public Service Department or downloaded from the government website at www.gov.za/documents.

Important Considerations
To avoid disqualification, it is crucial to ensure that the correct reference number is quoted on the application. Additionally, it is vital to use the new Z83 application form, as applications submitted using the old form will not be considered. Applicants must thoroughly complete, sign, and initial each section of the application form. Failure to sign the form will lead to disqualification during the selection process.

While a comprehensive CV is required, sections E, F, and G of the Z83 form are not compulsory if the CV is attached. However, candidates must answer the question related to conditions that prevent re-appointment under Part F. For non-RSA citizens or those with a Permanent Resident Permit, foreign qualifications must be accompanied by an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) if shortlisted.

Senior Management Service (SMS) Positions
Candidates applying for SMS positions will undergo a technical competency exercise to assess rele-vant technical elements of the job. The logistics of this exercise will be communicated by the De-partment. After the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a competency assessment using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. Successful appointment at the Senior Management Service level requires the completion of the Senior Management Pre-entry Programme, endorsed by the National School of Government. Applicants should indicate on their CVs whether they have registered or completed the Pre-entry Certificate, which can be accessed through the National School of Government’s website.
Appointment Requirements and Procedures
The appointment process includes security vetting, verification of qualifications, and a competency assessment, which includes checks for criminal records, citizenship, credit records, employment history, and qualification verification. Applicants must disclose any pending criminal, disciplinary, or other allegations or investigations against them. Failure to comply with the mentioned requirements or the discovery of undisclosed information during or after the interview will result in disqualification or termination of the appointment if already made.

Conflict of Interest and Probation Period
All applicants are required to declare any conflict or perceived conflict of interest and disclose any memberships on Boards or directorships they are associated with. The successful candidates will be appointed on a probation period of 12 months and will be required to sign a performance agreement.
